What is a 'Daruma'?
A Daruma doll is a traditional Japanese symbol of perseverance and goal-setting. Typically made of papier-mâché, it represents Bodhidharma, the founder of Zen Buddhism. Daruma dolls are often sold with blank eyes; one eye is filled in when a person sets a goal or makes a wish, and the other eye is filled in upon achieving the goal or wish. They serve as a reminder to stay focused and determined in pursuing one's objectives, symbolizing resilience and determination in the face of adversity.
